Let's be honest about emotional eating and what it really takes to cure it…

It's not some quick fix diet pill or silly gimmick. Many of my Gold clients heal their emotional eating and relationship with food with this one common thread…they pay attention to why they overeat and what they need.

If you’re struggling with emotional eating like so many women, there is a reason. There is always a reason and it's not because you are weak or lazy. Stop telling yourself that there’s something wrong with you and that you lack willpower.

You don't! The only skill you lack is that you haven’t spent enough time feeling your feelings and fully understanding WHY and WHAT you need.

A diet tells you what and how much to eat. The second you go off that diet, if you’re not connected with your body and you haven't addressed overeating tendencies, you will begin gaining weight.

It’s not always easy to address your emotions and understand why you’re facing the fridge versus facing your feelings. However, when you face this part of you and stop stuffing your emotions down with food, you truly do begin to heal.
To address your feelings as a naturally thin person, here are three steps you should take this week…

1.  The first thing you can start doing is tell yourself  “I can address my feelings in a easy and healthy manner.”

2.  Secondly, when you want food and you know you’re not hungry, ask yourself – “What am I really hungry for?” See if at this point you can identify an emotion like happy, sad, lonely, tired, etc.

3.  Then ask yourself, “What can I begin doing to address this feeling?” Things like taking a walk, screaming into a pillow, taking an Epsom salt bath, calling a friend, putting on some soft soothing music, or lighting some incense will all help you do what I call a state change.

When you go from wanting to eat for emotional reasons to addressing the real need within, you engage in what I call “a state change.” When you engage in a state change for just 20-30 minutes, you shift out an emotional eating state of mind into what's really going on and from there healing and weight loss take place.

Practice this several times over the week and you will soar into Thanksgiving and the holiday season with greater ease and control over your emotional eating.
