Is PMS impacting your weight and how you feel about yourself each month? If you, like me, have been plagued with annoying PMS symptoms, let's talk about what you can do to help you reduce weight gain and help move you through feeling fat, bloated and uncomfortable – and into a much more powerful place.

When it comes to PMS, each month, I finally sat myself down and realized I had two options:

1. I could either spiral down to overeating, binging and struggling which would ultimately lead to me feeling depressed and overweight.

OR…

2. I could create a system of tools I could use to lift me into a place of power, strength and health.

If you're someone like me who has to manage the ups and downs of PMS and the cycle of hunger that comes with it (and in my case the zits too) – I'd like to share with you the best ways I have found to help keep me as steady as possible and avoid these huge cycles….

1. Exercise – When I'm consistently working out 3-4 times a week, I find that my PMS symptoms are much less – the pain, the bloating, the mood swings and the bloat. Getting exercise dramatically helps the highs and lows you feel during this time of the month.

2. Drink loads of water – If I don't drink enough water, my skin shows it. I tell you, some of you are born with gorgeous skin (I hate you). I have nice skin that easily breaks out and I have to watch it. I've been on everything for it, but the best solution for me with my skin is drinking warm lemon water in the morning and at night, sweating at the gym and drinking loads of water throughout the day.

3. Sleep – If you feel PMS symptoms coming on, make sure during the pre-period times and during your period you get enough sleep. Because we typically carry extra water in our bodies this time of the month, it pushes on our nerve endings making us much more sensitive to sound, touch, smell and pretty much everything. Getting enough sleep will help you relax and help your senses be less sensitive.

4. Take an Epsom Salt Bath – An Epsom Salt bath will help take the bloat away. Just soak in an Epsom salt bath for 5-10 minutes in warm water, not hot water and enjoy the results.

Epsom salt, named for a spring in Surrey, England, is not actually salt but anaturally occurring pure mineral compound of magnesium and sulfate. Studies have shown that magnesium and sulfate are both readily absorbed through the skin, making Epsom salt baths an easy and ideal way to regulate the activity of over 325 enzymes, reducing inflammation, helping muscle and nerve improve the absorption of nutrients, while flushing toxins out of your body.

You can get through the month without the ups and downs of dramatic weight gain. Follow these tips and let me know how you do!
