Today I'd like to share with you my favorite quick tips for you if you want to go out and party, yet still want to lose weight.

People ask me all the time, “Marna, how do I have fun and not let drinking go to access because when it does, I don't care what I put in my mouth and I will eat anything. Then, a fun night turns into a big guilty morning.”
You can avoid all of this with this one quick tip:When you go out, enjoy one glass of wine or one drink. Then have one glass of water, then have one glass of wine or drink, and then one glass of water. This will keep you hydrated, having fun, enjoying the night but also keep you from losing control and not caring about anything – and then turning to food out of fun and not caring.

Here are some things to know about alcohol:

  • For the beer lover – light beer is roughly 110 calories per standard drink,
  • White and red wine is roughly 75-105 calories per glass depending on the level of sweetness.  Drier varieties are less caloric.
  • Champagne; 84 calories
  • Rum, vodka, whisky, tequila, brandy and cognac all come in at around 65 calories at 80proof, Yet once you add sugar mixers you can seriously increase this.

So here are my favorite drinks when going out:

1. Vanilla Vodka and Diet Ginger Ale
For a drink that tastes like a slice of cake, order a diet ginger ale and vanilla vodka. If you use a single shot of liquor, it's less than 100 calories-and sugar-free.

2. Vodka and Sprite Zero or Diet Sierra Mist
This is a great refreshing option under 100 calories as well.

3. For a Fun Treat – Try a Sea Breeze
If you usually order a vodka-cranberry, try a sea breeze. The 4 oz. of grapefruit juice, 1½ oz. of cranberry juice, and 1 oz. of vodka will set you back about 180 calories.
Just remember, drink water between each drink and you won't be needlessly hunting for food just because it “sounds good”.

In Love and Health,
Marna
