Do you love coffee like I do? I don't need anything  fancy; I just love Starbucks blonde coffee. But as of late I've been finding that when I drink coffee, I feel so tired afterwards and then I crave more.

Have you been noticing the same thing happening to you?

Caffeine speeds up your heart rate
and metabolism, but what I've recently learned is that consistent caffeine (drinking it every day like I like to drink it) acts like constant stress
on your body, and it raises your cortisol levels which makes you more efficient at storing FAT.

I don't know about you, but I'm already pretty good at storing fat and as I get older I certainly don't need any help in that department 🙂

When your body tires from
adrenal fatigue, it craves more caffeine (or sugar),
which develops into a terrible pattern…which is exactly why, you drink a cup of coffee, then you want to nap, so you think, “hmmmm, I think I need some more coffee”.

So what to do? I have a great solution for all you coffee lovers like me….Chicory.

Try adding some chicory to your coffee. You can add just a little bit and enjoy some health benefits or if you want to get away from coffee all together like I'm trying, go for 100% chicory and it's a great alternative.

Chicory contains no caffeine but it is still a great way to start your day and here are some useful benefits:

1.  The bitter taste stimulates the production of digestive enzymes in your stomach, pancreas and small intestine. These help your digestive system process and digest food more efficiently, enabling you to retain more nutrients from your food and speeding up the elimination of waste products.

2.  Chicory also contains a useful prebiotic named Inulin that promotes a healthy balance of good bacteria for your gut in the same way kefir and yogurt does.

So give it a go, and keep me posted how it's working for you.

In love and health,
