Are Mini Meals Better For Weight Loss?
We've all heard it over and over again that mini-meals are the key to weight loss. I’ve heard this for years, yet when I ask naturally thin people if they eat frequently throughout the day or if they eat just a few meals each day, the answers vary.
When it comes to learning from the naturally thin, many naturally thin people share that they eat just two meals a day, while others eat 4-6 small meals throughout the day. Hmmm, so what do you do if you want to slim down and live naturally thin?
For years I’ve been advising people to check in with their bodies in order to determine what is right for them. If they are hungry several times per day, they
should eat several small meals. If, on the other hand, they are hungry just a few times a day, a few meals each day should be just fine.
But have I been giving the wrong advice?
In doing my research I found a study conducted in Australia in 2009 studying more than 10,000 mini-meal eaters. This study found is that 69% of these individuals were more likely to pack on extra weight over the course of five years. The only way frequent meal eating works is to limit portion size and focus on nutrition. Many of these mini-meal eaters found that each of these four or five meals became larger and larger – so more calories were consumed over time.
So what does all this mean?
This means that the naturally thin men and women that I study continue to be accurate and excellent models for living thin! Every time I question them I find that they are in fact extremely body wise and are wonderful models to mimic our eating by. So, listen to your body – let your body give you the information you need as to when to eat, when to stop and if you need help with these food principles, consider do the 30-Day Blaster Challenge.
